*sneezes*
That's a lot of dust.
So I have a few questions for you all!
What's your favorite rank of character to roleplay?
How old do you typically make your characters?
Do you prefer male or female characters, if so, why?
Is it hard for you to make characters that are drastically different from yourself?
Do you have common personality traits or ways of speaking that you give your characters?
Tell meeeeeee.

I like playing apprentices and young Warriors, because they are too young to have heavy responsibilities placed on them but old enough that they understand the way of Clan life. I don't like playing important positions like the Medicine Cat, usually because I forget things like the Herbs, or the right words to say for say a rename ceremony, etc. I don't mind playing Queens and Elders, though, because they're fun to rp.
like i said, typically old apprentice or young warrior, though i've played really old cats in the past. It varies.
No, because I like mixing things up in that aspect. I even get annoyed sometimes on roleplays where the gender ratio is uneven (like, say, a 1:3 ratio or something)
Yes, it is hard to make characters different, because you usually want to take the easy way-which is basically making them act and talk like you would-because you know how to write like that. but that's what's so fun about writing stories! the challenges like making a very different character from yourself and the protagonist.
this is in the same regards to the last question, because it's so hard not to. I will occasionally have a character that has some similar characteristics to me, like ways of speech, because when writing so many characters you're eventually going to have some characters with some similarities to you.

What's your favorite rank of character to roleplay? I enjoy playing leaders because being in a leadership position like a Clan leader is is quite difficult and I enjoy emotionally torturing myself by having the lives of everyone else's character riding on my back :') Also, warriors are great. All ranks are great, really.
How old do you typically make your characters? Typically young adult to middle-age, but I like playing very young cats too.
Do you prefer male or female characters, if so, why? I have no preference in this respect. However, sometimes playing females is cathartic because issues of pregnancy and child-rearing and the double-standard the Clans seem to have regarding males being allowed to have more than one mate at once but females are not (this is actually addressed in a really interesting way in Yellowfang's Secret, from what I've seen) and essentially I get to rail against the patriarchy using a cat character. Marigoldfur is a queen I play who is essentially the definition of "victimized by the patriarchy," and it's really an emotional release pouring every ounce of hurt and anger I've felt simply from being a woman into her actions and thoughts. She's currently pregnant and in the nursery so she can't really contribute much to the RP just yet, but it's so therapeutic writing down her thoughts and feelings.
Is it hard for you to make characters that are drastically different from yourself? In a way, yes, but in a way, no. I am a very multi-faceted person and am very introspective so I've spent a lot of time analyzing different parts of myself, which are all sort of this awful mishmash of feelings and thoughts that sort of make my brain a living hell and oh god i need therapy BUT ANYWAY. Each character I play is essentially extracting a core element of myself and fleshing it out to be another, unique, individual character. Beetlestar is how I handle leadership and responsibility for others, Foxwhisker is how I joke in the face of sadness and adversity, Marigoldfur is the clinically depressed more melancholy part of myself, Luther is my bad temper and my failures towards others, Briarclaw is my coping with a visual disability, and Trevor is my flirtatiousness and sexuality (though significantly dumbed down and censored for the sake of family-friendly roleplay). They were all inspired by unique parts of myself but are all their own individual characters and do not exist for the purpose of wish fulfillment.
Do you have common personality traits or ways of speaking that you give your characters? Foxwhisker is my awful sense of humor in that he starts doing odd voices and grandiose gestures when trying to be funny, and Trevor shares a lot of my more casual speaking habits. Luther just swears a lot like I do.

What's your favorite rank of character to roleplay?
I love 'em all, really, but I just love playing kits. It kind of lets me think back to when I was first introduced to the Warriors series and stepping into the world for the first time. And you get to write the most adorable scenes ever, and dialogue is the funnest.
How old do you typically make your characters?
Basically I just look at what's needed for the given rp. Looking back, though, I've done a lot of young warriors.
Do you prefer male or female characters, if so, why?
I try to keep myself pretty balanced, usually alternating between male and female. Again, whatever will help keep the rp balanced.
Is it hard for you to make characters that are drastically different from yourself?
Not really, mostly because I'm really into personality stuff. Whenever I build my next character, I'm probably actually going to start with the Enneagram because I love that thing. But usually when I make a new character, I think of some part of me or some trait I have (like how I'll usually run around for ten minutes with a stupid grin on my face when I get a big idea) and magnify that, then add on as neccesary. That way the character doesn't appear much like me, but I've still got something to go off of.
Do you have common personality traits or ways of speaking that you give your characters?
Every character I make is a trait of mine. cx
Swanpaw's gets the same way as I do when she's frustrated or annoyed (and helped me sort out my depression by writing it into her) Mistfoot's gets the same way as I do when she's excited or inspired. Morningfang overthinks things way too much. Lionkit lets me 'breviate an' apo'trophy e'rything e'cessive'y an' it's cute ins'ead of annoy'ng.

What's your favorite rank of character to roleplay? ahaha. Well you know me (or Rolo and Cloudie do anyway), I've run the gambit. Gotta say I prefer deputies & senior warriors. Senior warriors more than deputies. Probably because I like second fiddles and tertiaries, ja? Ja.
How old do you typically make your characters? Old. Middle-aged+. And not just for warriors roleplays either. I like my characters old and raggedy with a side of jaded, yessir.
Do you prefer male or female characters, if so, why?
Oh Cloudie. Cloudie, Cloudie, Cloudie. You know how I feel about gender ratios. You know so well. eue I tend to play males. No uh...profound reason for it. I just prefer to roleplay 'em over chicks. My character set is never balanced. Warriors, non-warriors. Mostly male.
I know it might be kind of hard to believe but yeah. I put next to no thought into what gender my character is going to be. Usually because I go "Gunna make a character. It's male." Except for when I decide (I don't really decide so much as I just know going into the creation process what gender the little somethinwhatever is gunna be) that it's gunna be female...that's not really often. Like. TO DEMONSTRATE: Just started a new semester and my creative writing teacher's like "Alright, first assignment: make a character. No fantasy. No animals." Yeah I knew before she even finished explaining the assignment--nay, as soon as she said 'character', that I'd be making a dude.
I like playing mothers when I play chicks. And I gotta say this because Cloudie. Cloudie you know, bro, you know. Gotta say that despite preferring to play mothers a lot of my females are single, snappy, snarkpots. Actually no. I have some low-key female characters. Foxpaw is...so quiet and nervous and self-concious holy hell. And there's...well then there's Adeline/Littlestorm. She's. uh. Different. Yeeeaaah got some weird ones. A mix of stuff, really. But yeah, mums. Or at least, I really like roleplaying Fawnstep. She's a hoot. And Radiospeak. but Radio's not a cat so uh. MOVING ON.
Also Marlo. Marlo's...Marlo. She is uh. She's something alright.
Is it hard for you to make characters that are drastically different from yourself? I dunno. All my characters seem to tend to be some quality of mine put to the moderate or extreme so...maybe/maybe not. I don't really think about how different or similar my characters are to myself while I'm making them. I just make them. And then maybe afterwards when I get a question like this I look and I go "uh well. shad can cook and i can cook? or elk is pretty snarky. i like snark."
Do you have common personality traits or ways of speaking that you give your characters? eue Ah yes, dialects. I druther like southern accents and characters that put grammar through a ringer. Ask Cloudie. She knows aaaall about my southern-folk tendencies. Georgia, Texas, South Carolina, Virginia, & Maryland are my usual go-to's.
Common personality traits HM. Well. Sarcasm is present in a shameful majority of my characters. My characters are just butts. Total butts. And as far as my warriors roleplay characters are concerned, I tend to play cats that were loners then joined a clan. I like them to have had some amount of travel-time. Demonstrated kind of...uh...in the extreme with Owlheart and Elkstep. Elkstep pretty much went across the country in various cat (and sometimes hobo) ways. Heeeee's a wanderer. In more ways than one. Ladiiiiieeees~ /shot And then there's Raccoontail. Train-hobo cat. mm-hm.

This looked fun!
What's your favorite rank of character to roleplay?
I like apprentices, and Warriors. I'm not exactly a leader person, I find it pretty intimidating to have a control over 30 or so cats. Deputies are fun, but I'm rarely chosen by the leader to be one. I've done a few medicine cats. I'm more of a battle person and I'm afraid I don't have enough knowledge. I've actually done one elder, people rarely do them, sadly. It's fun telling made up stories and lazying around. Haha.
How old do you typically make your characters?
10-20 Moons. Though when I'm a leader usually around 20-35 moons.
Do you prefer male or female characters, if so, why?
No preference. I like males kinda because I don't really want to deal with pregancy and birth issues. So I typically keep my females single. I also usually join as a gender with the least number of cats. Which is usually male.
Is it hard for you to make characters that are drastically different from yourself?
Nope. I wouldn't call myself evil, but I do sometimes enjoy rping one once in a while. Though I make them realistic, don't worry. They only kill around 2 cats in their life verus some people making their cats kill [approx] 50+. I'm also pretty fun, I'd consider but I can manage a serious cat.
Do you have common personality traits or ways of speaking that you give your characters?
Mine are normally concieted. Or goofy.

What's your favorite rank of character to roleplay?
Personally, I don't have a favorite. I like them all pretty much equally for different reasons, minus deputy. There scarcely seems to be place for the deputy in roleplays, I feel. I will also admit that I don't have many elders because I prefer aging my characters up through roleplay rather than creating them via application or whatever. It's hard to age them up for me, however, because I'm a wee bit of a hoarder, so my characters are scattered all over the place.
Leaders are the most interesting because they have to make the most decisions and their decisions affect their whole Clan, and often times the other Clans as well.
I adore playing medicine cats, but the issue here is that in many roleplays, people completely forget they the exist, I feel. Nobody ever roleplays their cat going to the medicine cat, even after a battle, where everyone involved should be going to the medicine cat. Their cat received some kind of injury unless they were protected or godmoding.
Queens are fun for me to play because they're usually excited about their kittens, worried about the outcomes, or, in a few cases, dreading the whole thing big time. I've recently been playing a she-cat who really did not want kittens, but not because of the tom she was having them with - no, she loves him - but due to her Clan's situation. Their leader is tyrannical, so she really didn't want any kit of hers to grow up in such an environment.
Warriors are, of course, the most plentiful rank due to the fact that they make up the majority of Clans. They fight, they hunt, you get the point. Training apprentices can be fun, but it gets repetitive, in my opinion.
Apprentices are also fun to play, but can also get repetitive.
Kits can be very interesting if you plan on getting them into a lot of trouble. I've also found it fun to roleplay that one annoying kitten who asks questions all the time or the one that thinks they're already a leader.
How old do you typically make your characters?
My characters are usually aged 12 moons to 20 moons (with Warriors). I like to create fresh characters that have their whole warrior lives ahead of them.
Do you prefer male or female characters, if so, why?
I'll make male or female characters depending on what I have muse for.
Is it hard for you to make characters that are drastically different from yourself?
Definitely not! In fact, most of my characters are very, very, different from myself. I'm taking an acting class in school at the moment (loving it), and playing/experimenting with extreme personalities and such has always been very entertaining to me. I usually have the most muse for my weirdest characters.
Do you have common personality traits or ways of speaking that you give your characters?
Most of my characters are intelligent and mature. I guess it reflects off me and the fact that I really like that type of character, despite how common they are.
