There's a lot of them out there. It was alright with fanfiction, there might have been a way to use them effectively there, but now I'm beginning to see them in roleplay more and more often. And I'm not talking about in those roleplay where fantasy characters are allowed, I mean regular old cat roleplay. I've never tried out roleplaying with these kinds of characters as I'm more of a retiree, but I'm seriously curious as how a regular cat is supposed to behave around someone with "The Power", especially clanmates who might know about it. Do other cats worship them or are they treated like everyone else? Do these magic cats ever get overwhelmed by how much their clan expects from them?

What "The Power" are we talking about here? From what I read of Power of Three, each of the Three had their own special power. (Well, except for Hollyleaf.) Is there a bigger one? Or does it mean any cat with magic powers? I'm a bit confused. :C

It's usually one of the three powers: The power to walk in other's dreams and read their thoughts; the power to never be defeated in battle; and the power of super hearing (Dovewing from the last arc had this power). But, I guess it could also include a cat with other superpowers that a roleplayer might throw into an old-fashioned Warriors rp.

I have a hate towards powers in normal Clan Cats rp, many of those rpers tend to have those 'oh-so-special' power cats with names like 'Wanderingsouls', 'Darkdream', or 'Perfectdestiny' and are sometimes one of the biggest sues. It's pretty hard to pull a single cat with power in normal clan rp, without setting the Mary-sue red-flag.

I hate cats with special powers. They make normal Sue Cats look like actual characters.

I don't roleplay in fantasy warriors rp and I never, ever will. Konara and its ilk make me feel sick and lose faith in humanity. |C
I just think they're all useless and absurd. Maybe there's a well-played one out there, but I'll be very, very surprised if there is.

Honestly, I have really rped warriors in years, outside of this one proboards site that has sort of become a onexone between myself and the only other person who goes on there anymore. But I'm not surprised that people are using powers. Everyone has the drive to make their character "unique" and "special" so the things they call "boring and unoriginal" end up being original now because very few people do it. I could say I miss warriors rps before the "powers" but even then people made cats that were mary sue. So these are just the same mary sues. Pah! I'll match my sassy Spiderfur against those "special" cats any day cause she'd tan their hides!

Ha, yes it does seem there has been no one yet who can successfully pull off a power cat without sounding like a jerk/sue. I thought maybe if those rpers would consider the questions in the op, then these characters would turn out way better.

Honestly I feel like it doesn't matter how they handle it. In canon, the cats hide their powers. If the other clan cats found out, they would be treated like senior warriors and so you'd have what I'd like to call the "Ivypaw syndrome" where other cats will be jealous of them because they are given more attention than they deserve. I feel that having cats that have powers and who are treated more "special" than others will pull a clan apart and therefore no matter how you treat them, they are a horrible idea.
Depending on the personality and power too, the cat might act like they are a god and abuse the power, or they might try to blend in as much as possible, to the point of leaving the Clan because of the pressure.

The best way I've seen it handled is that the powered cats eventually took control and created a class system. It was way non-traditional but interesting and addressed the issue as a central concern.

I think the main isue here is that Warriors is not an objectively well-written series, and while reading it is better for these kids than not reading at all, it doesn't give them a lot to work with in terms of, "Okay, how can I make a really good character that fits in with this universe?" I actually sort of want to try seeing if I can make a good power cat after reading this thread. I like a challenge, ehehe cx

I like a challenge, ehehe cx I think the Erins realized long ago that kids read for the drama XD I find it odd that it's been years and they never seem to get any better at their writing, only worse. You're not alone either; I often thought about making fanfictions just to see if I could write it better than most can. I'm pretty sure a well thought-out power cat can be possible if done with care.
