Feel free to discuss common plots/tropes in Warriors fanfiction that I've forgotten to mention here. (help me i am spending too much time desultorily flipping through fanfiction.net)
These are all I can think of, but I'm sure all of you keen analysts of the Warriors fandom can think of more.
- The chosen one, a miraculous kit who is destined for greatness. There is usually a prophecy and a nebulously-defined evil involved. Characters with this kind of plot attached to them are usually flat and two-dimensional in the sort of way associated with Mary-Sue type characters.
- A variant thereupon in which the chosen one is a kittypet or a kit mysteriously dropped on the Clan's doorstep.
- Similar to the above: a long and detailed biography of a leader, similar to Bluestar's Prophecy.
- Stories taking place in the distant future of the Clans are more common than those in the far past, for some reason. Often, in this sort of story, there will be entirely new Clans born of the ashes of the four canon ones.
- Similar to, but distinct from, the above are fanfictions acting as a sort of epilogue to The Last Hope, taking up various plot threads that were never satisfactorily resolved. Often involve romance (including kits) between either Lionblaze and Cinderheart or Dovewing and Bumblestripe/Tigerheart.
- SkyClan, perhaps for its leniency regarding newcomers, kittypets and ridiculous names, is a popular fanfiction setting.
- Counterfactual stories, mostly addressing one of a few situations:
1. Spottedleaf didn't die. Romance ensues between her and Fireheart.
2. Cinderpelt never was injured. Romance ensues between her and Fireheart. The astute may be sensing a pattern at this point.
3. Firestar never came to the forest in the first place. (i know it's overused, but i have one in my dusty mental storage drawer of fanfictions i plan to write) - Warriors, but with a different species. Wolves, horses and winged cats are popular
- Human characters (usually female and in their early teens) die and are reincarnated as warrior cats. These often carry a miasma of self-insertion.
These are all I can think of, but I'm sure all of you keen analysts of the Warriors fandom can think of more.
