After being an Instagram account dedicated to Roleplaying, and stuff Warriors related I have some personal experience.
Many users on Instagram aren't making Clans. They're making temples, rouge gangs, empires, etc. There are a few Clans but they're being overtaken on the other things.
They also changed the rank names, like Warriors aren't Warriors anymore. They're renamed to things like fighters, hunters, gaurds. Leaders are called things like rulers, kings/queens. Deputies are called things like second in command, etc and so on.
Some clans aren't even accepting Warrior names. They only allow singular names [for example a user signed up their cat as Hawktalon, but the owner said the cat could only use Hawk or Talon as their name.]
Be prepared for this next one... they make up words and consider it 'Literate.' Like one time I was reading a roleplay and she used the word 'fae' to describe a female cat. A fae isn't even a word according to my phone. So I researched it and it's a shortened version of fairy. Some users use words like 'Banner' to describe the tail. And words that may mean eye but they sound very odd like 'optics,' 'oculars,' 'retina.' As they've never been used in the books. Also 'Appendage.' made me confused, as that could mean really anything connected to the main body.
If you don't use these fancy words you aren't cool. And they exclude you.
Some Clans aren't even in forests, they're IN THE OCEAN! Or in the desert [no, they do not use a species of wild cat equipped for the desert.
And lastly, the names they use for their cats. I saw a 'Radioshock.' and a 'Acidstar.' and a 'Fairyflight.' And so many cats have unrealistic powers that wouldn't even benefit the cat like the three's powers did. Like flying. And the names for their Clans.
Me and a few friends got together to make a parody Clan, it's super fun and it's the only timeI actually rp anymore. I dislike roleplaying now.

I agree that some roleplays are ridiculously over-the-top. Personally, my favorite 'ridiculous name' to make fun of is Auroradance. I've seen a lot of those in my time.
At one point, I used some names outside of the books as well, resulting in Clans such as MidnightClan and SunsetClan and cats such as Pumpkinheart and Burningclaw. At this point, I use strictly canon prefixes/suffixes, though only those used in Clans (no tribes or ancient Clan names).
I don't know where they get off thinking that some of these things are in nature. I wonder if their cats are so insane that they somehow managed to see fairies (in response to the Fairyflight you saw, TC), knew what they were called, and believed them to be real?
Dragon- is a prefix that really gets me. You could literally only use that once, and what if your Clan's leader decided to give your cat a suffix other than -fly? It wouldn't work out too well then, now would it? Not to mention that even though there is such a thing as a dragonfly, dragons still came from the human mind.
There is a huge sense of "I want to be original" in the Warriors fandom at this point, but it feels like the most original naming and such are ones of names that no one touches, such as the prefix Bark-. I've seen very few of those in my roleplaying time (almost 3 years). Timber- is another one I rarely see, along with Buzzard-.
You don't have to be ridiculous to be original.
As for these "Literate" words, I roll my eyes every time someone uses "Optics" instead of "Eyes". There's that originality thing again, except it's in the form of being "Fancy". You can write using details and out-of-the-ordinary words, but you really don't have to change simple things such as eyes, legs, female, etc. to be fancy.

I feel like a lot of writers, particularly those who are relatively inexperienced and understandably afraid of writing badly, think that they can use a lot of flowery synonyms to make what they write look good and that the pretty surface will make up for any flaws in the actual writing.

@midnight, Aurora dance? You've got to be kidding me. And your Clan names are fine, I actually adore SunsetClan and MidnightClan. The opposite idea makes it so cool, especially if they're bordered. Also your Warrior names are unique, yet they make sense. For example, cats in the book have referred to 'burning.' And for the insane part, my OC Spiderweb was actually her mentor, and she was anything but insane. She was probably the most sane cat in the Clan. One had a tragic past and delusional tendencies. Another was a reformed past-murderer. Two had a love so strong they only saw each other, and blocked out the world. My cat had previously put himself into his own isolation when he attacked a cat under stress. He didn't kill him though. Fairyflight even became a strong deputy. As for her parents, they weren't delusional. They where kind cats (I was in their own death roleplay) The dragon thing is so cool. And cats in the book don't rip parts off a word. So they most likely wouldn' get Dragon from Dragonfly. It'd be nonsense for them. And for unique names I see little 'Tree's. And lastly, the word part. I know. I can barely reply to those due to my confusion haha vbfdoeeMost likely. Using a thesaurus doesn't make your writing magical.

I have nothing wrong with mixing it up, especially for Warriors. Given that "Clans" can begin pretty much anywhere, of course they could call it something different and use different systems because honestly the likelihood of a group of cats from America and one from like Asia or something having the same exact words and system and such really wouldn't happen, I don't think. However there's a point when it's not really Warriors anymore and just a group of humans in cat costumes in the middle of nowhere. I'm not sure quite what that point is. I think if the system becomes too different, if they don't call themselves Warriors maybe, and don't use the naming system or something similar. But given your experience, that's completely ridiculous. New words for eyes and tails? Why? Stupid names? Powers? Flying? WHY? ? At this point, 90% of the Warriors fandom has played that "Look at how original I am" card that all this "special snowflake powers and rainbow fur" nonsense is really not that original. Like the Brownpelt phenomenon: on Warrior name rating boards on various sites by lyrical namers, they called said name "plain" and "unoriginal" when really the prefix itself had only been used like what, twice in the series? Everyone was trying so hard to have "unique" and "pretty" names that Brownpelt became fairly uncommon. I guess that's the same situation. Forced names are ridiculous too. If a queen names her kit for something as trivial as his green eyes then the leader has no choice but to call him "Greeneyes" as to avoid confusion... but the usual eye colors like green, amber and blue are so common that nobody from another clan is going to know who to look for if told to find "Greeneyes" without a description. Not to mention that there's a million other reasons why naming your kitten after eye color is stupid including the fact that they are born with CLOSED, BLUE EYES... the best Warrior Cats roleplaying places, where everyone actually knows how to write cats and everything is amazing, unfortunately tend to die because people don't want restrictions...

The first place I ever roleplayed at did the original four Clans in a slightly edited forest territory and it was a lot of fun. Names did tend to be iffy sometimes, but it was pretty much restricted to "do cats know it" and that worked out pretty well. One thing, though, is there really was some pretty bad purple prose from time to time. "Appendage", "orbs", and "pools" were pretty common, but I don't think I ever saw "optics". I picked this up at first, too. The good thing, though, is that this also comes with longer post lengths, so it was really good for my writing skills in the long run.
The things we did to pull off one-part names, though. My old character Meltedsnow was named Snowshine, and then there was a fire and half of his fur was burned off and the follicles damaged so that it never grew back. Just because I liked the name Meltedsnow and was roughly following the guidelines of Ebonycrow.
Now we have different adaptation-things for each clan. Which is unrealistic, sure, but I can't say I don't love it.
