Continuing the discussion of mysterious characters, we have Midnight, the wise and intelligent badger ghost who is extremely interested with the lives of cats.
I can see that perhaps she is something of a badger version of a medicine cat, but why is she so interested with cats? Sure, she says they're more intelligent than rabbits and foxes (which I doubt), but why does she involve herself with kitty drama? It can't be that the destiny of four groups of cats will affect the entire world, can it?
And what is her relationship with Rock? Were they best pals before? This could be plausible seeing as she implied that she has been around since the beginning of time.

According to one of those trivia thingers, she is. Which actually makes a whole lot of sense since she witnessed "the beginning of time".

There was absolutely nothing to suggest this in the New Prophecy. Nothing. Wtf. This makes no sense.

This thought came to my mind irrespective of any previous discussion in this thread. However:
Midnight is actually a great way of showing kids "hey, just because someone doesn't speak your language perfectly does not mean they're stupid. Difficulty in expressing thoughts =/= lack of them."

That IS true, I will admit.

To be honest I always thought Midnight was just kind of.. ridiculous. I mean, that badger could talk to like any animal. Imagine how weird it'd be to see a badger just meowing. And the whole thing about her seeing the future and getting omens and being a ghost.. for me it just reinforced the idea that the Erins are sort of just making stuff up as they go along.

I dunno, I liked Midnight. She felt like the last gasp of the sort of mysticism that was present in the first arc.
