I'm not sure why I waited so long to actually make this thread. Maybe I didn't want to be the first person to make a thread in the Other Media section? But anyway, this is a thread for talking about music. What genres of music do you guys like? Or do you just like whatever you like and not pay any mind to genre? Are you the kind of person who likes a few bands with the fiery burning listening-to-every-b-side passion of a thousand suns, or do you listen more casually to a bunch of them? Do you have a definite favorite song/band, or are your preferences little-defined and constantly changing? I just kind of like what I like, though I find myself attracted to the piano-driven and/or musically adventurous. For some reason, the fact that I only have maybe 700 songs on my iPod makes me feel inferior. I really don't know why. I tend to go through phases of listening constantly to a couple artists, then moving on to a couple different ones. I'm really bad at favorites, but I've agreed with myself that this song is my favorite (actually, I have a massive crush on that album as a whole). Ironically, that's the reason I don't listen to it very often. Fun fact: Here's the song that my signature is from. As though you were curious or anything. (it's pretty obvious at this juncture that i'm a huge tori amos fan)

Did you know Voltaire did a cover of "Caught A Lite Sneeze?" It's really good and you should listen to it. Yes. He also did "Bachelor(ette)." I have a ladycrush on that album. Also, you literally cannot get any better than Vienna Teng. I just. Aw man. I love her so much it's probably illegal. Everything she touches is pure musical gold that needed to exist. My personal favorites by her are "Harbor," "The Atheist Christmas Carol," "The Tower" (which is also the song in my signature), and "Anna Rose," which I hope to sing to my own child one day. But she has so many good songs, oh my gosh. I'm just cutting down on what I link to here because I don't want to flood you all. There's also some little random miscellaneous songs I love that I'm willing to share with you. (I'm not willing to share a bunch of them because I listen to embarrassing pop music bologna. I kid you not, over 50% of my music library just makes me sit there in shame with a red face because of how awful my taste in music is.) "John Barbury" - Kate Rusby "Spell" - Marie Digby "Take Her From You" - DEV "Just One Dance" - Caro Emerald "The Mating Game" - Bitter Sweet "I Need A Dollar" - Aloe Blacc I have a really big thing for modern jazz @3@ <3

I love listening to music! My definite favorite has to be rock, but I listen to some pop and country. The only thing I like about hip-hop is the sound; I don't care for the lyrics. I listen to a bunch of different bands, but there are some that I listen to more, which would be my favorites: Seether (Which I don't reccomend if you're uncomfortable with swearing and such content) Bon Jovi Daughtry Evanescence Here are my favorites for each band: Broken by Seether (It's safe, don't worry) It's My Life by Bon Jovi There and Back Again by Daughtry Bring me to Life by Evanescence Just a handful of songs I listen to. A lot. The first song on that list is my absolute favorite song of all time. Srsly. :3

Nostalgia! :3
Evanescence were the band that got me really interested in music. I was in eighth grade when I discovered them; my depression was really bad around that time and their music spoke to me so perfectly. *pleasant memories*

I carpool with friends pretty often, and the music becomes reasonably communal on the drive up and back again. In about six songs, we had something by Skrillex, I Just Can't Wait To Be King, Careless Whisper, the Bed Intruder Song, some hardcore screamo thing and the Pokerap. It gets pretty weird sometimes, ehehehe. I am almost indiscriminate when it comes to music, though, and I can never remember who sang what or when or whatever. My friends give me what they like and I just end up with monstrous playlists of I don't even know what any more. I was wondering if anyone here knew about Pogo, actually. He's an Aussie bloke but most of his stuff is on Youtube - I was just curious about how many people know about him, or if he's just another Australian thing. I think he's great, but like I said, I think a lot of things are great (and they are probably not even close, ehehehehe). Still, this is his stuff: www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAwR6w2TgxY

I don't think it was. The saxophone part was boss, though.

Hm, well, the version I'm thinking of is a rock cover, so no saxophone. Was it this?If it is, that's the original

The saxophone sounds about right, but the voice was different. Found it. Supervillains. That's who played the version I heard.
Aladdin came on not much after so the appropriate thing to do was sing to it. One of the girls hates A Whole New World and the other loves it, so my guy friend and I made a big deal out of it. It would have been great but I was Jasmine.
And then about halfway through the song, we realised how creepy certain parts sounded and everything ended up silly and the driver almost started crying from laughter. Thinking back, that was really dangerous.

The Decemberists are so cool. I love how they avoid the trap of asthenic prog rock; their proggiest albums (the tain, the crane wife, the hazards of love) are also their most traditionally "rock" albums. Sorry for the non sequitur

Hmm My mother and I adore the band Bon Jovi I tend to like more 90's and some older rock bands, some 90's pop, Old Disney Films songs, Halloween themed music for some odd reason, Piano songs, Classical music and Electronic songs.

Bon Jovi is amazing. People thing they've lost the charm of their old songs but then I direct them to THIS. I mean, come on. This song is so freaking catchy and just awesome.

Yes. This is perfect. And Christmas carols. I don't even know why I like them, but I do.

I don't think they lost touch, I really haven't came across a Bon Jovi, that I didn't like, My favorites are Livin' on Prayer, It's my Life, Have Nice Day, and plenty others. Due to hanging out if my mom a lot, I developed a slight crush on Jon Bon Jovi, but my mother woulds loves him like a lot, so sometimes we turn on the T.V and when Bon Jovi comes on we fan-girl together.

Hm there are so many people who tell me they don't like Bon Jovi, it's sad. :C I don't know many people who do; my best friend Caitlin does, and so does my family (especially my brother) but that's about it. In fact, not that many people I know like rock as a whole. It's sad since it's my favorite genre and I don't have anyone to talk about it with. :C
